Meet the Team
Why choose us?
OUR DENTIST is the heart of our practice. Dr. Helderman loves being a dentists and working with children. She aims to please and wants every experience to be amazing!
OUR FACILITY is designed for children, not adults. Most dental offices look like...dental offices. When you come through our front door, you will know right away that this is not your typical dental office. This is a place kids want to come because it’s a fun place to visit! Our waiting area has a fun and interactive play area for little ones, along with video games for the bigger kids. Check out our facility.
OUR COMMITMENT to you is to provide your child with the highest quality dental care. We trust you will find the atmosphere child-oriented, the staff friendly, and our service exceptional.
OUR TEAM is amazing! We specifically choose each of our staff members for their friendliness and ability to build relationships with children. Not every person was born to interact with children all day - but we were!
Dr. Helderman in her own words…
Hi! My name is Aleighia Helderman and I am so excited to care for the families of Kingsport, TN and surrounding areas! I was born and raised in Oxford, North Carolina, attended J.F. Webb High School and later graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Raleigh, North Carolina. I graduated from NC State University in 2002 and graduated from University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 2008. Following dental school I moved to Lexington, KY to complete an additional 2 years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry in order to provide the best possible treatment for my patients! After working for 2 years in private practice in Kentucky, we found Morristown, TN and decided to make it our HOME!! In 2012, I married the love of my life Jared Helderman from Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. We have three labradoodle fur babies, Layla, Lily and Lexi.
I love my job, my team and my community!! It is my goal and philosophy as a pediatric dentist to educate our community and the amazing people that are apart of it, to make every child and parent feel at home and comfortable in our office, and to have the utmost customer service! As a pediatric specialist who receives even the most challenging referrals from other dentists, I am trained to use kid-friendly words and a calm demeanor to make every dental experience an enjoyable one. One of the things that I absolutely love about pediatric dentistry is that I have the opportunity to educate parents, patients, and expectant mothers how to maintain a lifetime of healthy smiles.
We would love to meet you and your children and look forward to welcoming you to our family!
- Aleighia Helderman, DMD, MS
Lexi the Therapy Dog
Lexi is an Australian Labradoodle. She has joined our family as a therapy dog for our patients. Lexi is still a puppy and learning, but her presence helps calm and relax the children. She is a hypoallergenic dog, which means no shedding and in MOST cases people with allergies are not affected by her. If for any reason you or your child do not want Lexi out and about while you are in the office, please let us know and we will be happy to put her in her bed!

Our office manager Debbie has worked at Morristown Pediatric Dentistry since 1991. She is a registered dental hygienist and graduated from East Tennessee State University. She is from Bean Station and has four children and one granddaughter. She loves doing anything outside—sports, running, playing golf, being at the lake or beach and loves being with her granddaughter. Since summer is her favorite time of year, July 4th is her favorite holiday. She cheers on the Tennessee Vols and sometimes Alabama, when they aren’t playing Tennessee, of course.
Registered Dental Assistant/Front Office
Dawn is one of our registered dental assistants and works in the front office as well. She grew up in a military family and enjoyed traveling the world. When she’s not at work, she’s relaxing by the pool, reading, or hanging out with her husband, three kids, two dogs, and a cat. Her favorite color is blue, and she likes Mexican food, Auburn football, and Halloween.
Kathryn hasn’t worked here long, but she brings over five years of experience in the medical and dental field and in front desk and billing. One of her favorite things about working here is the people she works with. When she’s not working, she’s making crafts, reading, volunteering in her church’s children ministry, or hanging out with her cat Kleo. Although she moved around a lot when she was younger, she calls Tennessee home.
